Description
The Shelly 1 Gen3 is a WiFi-controlled 1-channel 16A relay with a potential-free contact, designed for mounting behind switches, wall sockets, or lamp sockets. It enables easy control and automation of lighting, garage doors, irrigation systems, bathroom fans, and virtually any existing electrical appliance.
Thanks to its compact design, it fits in most wall and ceiling boxes.
The Shelly 1 Gen3 is easily configured and controlled via the Shelly Smart Control app or your preferred smart home or smart building system.
Shelly devices operate 100% locally and only require a local network to function. Shelly can be used alone in the Shelly Smart Control app or with over 200 partner systems such as Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Home Assistant, Samsung SmartThings, Athom Homey, and many more.
Function
The Shelly 1 Gen3 has many uses. It can be powered with 12V DC, 24-48V DC, or 110-230V AC. With the potential-free contact, it is possible to power the device with low voltage while connecting a 230V device to the relay or vice versa. The device has a simple switch input that is optional to use and is fully programmable.
This makes Shelly 1 Gen3 useful for many purposes, such as:
- Lighting control
- Control of bathroom fans
- Underfloor heating control (possibly together with Shelly Plus Add-On and a DS18B20 temperature sensor)
- Garage door control (possibly together with Shelly Plus Add-On and magnetic contact)
- Control of irrigation systems
- Control of SG-Ready heat pump
- Making your doorbell smart
Works locally - No gateway needed
All Shelly WiFi devices have a built-in web server, which means you get a wealth of features that always work, whether you have an active internet connection or not. You don't need a gateway and can therefore get started with just a single Shelly device. The built-in web server means that Shelly has built-in memory and will therefore remember sunrise, sunset, schedules, etc., even when the network goes down. Relays and dimmers function as completely ordinary toggle relays and can therefore be used with your regular switches - even without the internet. All inputs and outputs are fully programmable and only require local wifi to communicate between devices. However, we recommend having an active internet connection as it opens up even more features.
Connection
Shelly 1 Gen3 can be connected to the internet or local network via a 2.4 GHz WiFi. In addition, the device has built-in Bluetooth like the rest of the Pro and Plus devices, which means it can also be used as a gateway for Shelly Bluetooth battery-powered Bluetooth devices.
All Shelly devices work locally without connection to Shelly Cloud, but it is recommended to activate this for easy data storage and increased functionality.
The devices can also communicate via MQTT, HTTP, and WebSocket. All support TLS.
Hardware
The device is equipped with generation 3 hardware, which includes the powerful ESP-Shelly-C38F CPU with 8MB of flash. This makes Shelly 1 Gen3 future-proof and enables the use of scripting functions and virtual devices for advanced and user-customized functionality.
